The brief and the answer

When were you last inside a municipal sports and fitness complex? We were, not long ago — shooting this film for Tsentr Sporta in Yuzhny Park. Fifteen seconds, four halls and one idea holding it all together: the words do not sit on top of the picture as captions, they stand inside the rooms as solid objects. “Spacious changing rooms” — lilac and white letters among the yellow lockers, athletes walking past them. “A modern gym” — white and orange between the racks and benches. “A comfortable sauna” — warm gold on the timber panelling, in the steam. And the best moment of all — “Olympic”: the word hangs underwater between the women in the aqua-aerobics class, the letters passing behind their bodies, and as the camera surfaces, “Pool” is already standing above the edge. Each word is coloured in the light of its own hall, so the graphics never argue with the footage — they live inside it. The film closes on an aerial of the complex in the autumn park, and the address.
