The brief and the answer

Fotofutbolki, a Kaliningrad shop, prints on T-shirts, mugs, jigsaws and masks. The brief was to reveal, with humour, the “secret” of how a picture in an online designer turns into a real thing — and to do it in two versions, a regular one and a Christmas one. Our answer: the order leaves the website for an underground workshop staffed by gnomes. The gnomes turn out to be bearded bodybuilders in vests and blue dungarees. In orange smoke, over the clatter and a takeaway box of fried chicken, they bellow “Order!”, hammer, press, cut, weld and stretch a white T-shirt as if this were an armoury rather than a print shop. Then the film returns to reality: the counter at the Epicentr mall, the shop owner unfolds the finished shirt, the customer is delighted — and says “Nice work, lads!” somewhere downwards, at which the gnomes give her a thumbs-up. Two weeks from brief to film, with the whole workshop built in a single location. The end card carries the shop’s address and phone number, because the film was made for one specific store.
