About the project
The brief and the answer
Kaliningrad City Jazz has been running in the city’s central park for seventeen years, and for this edition it needed an identity that sounds the way the music does: free, bright and without academic restraint. We built the identity around a single gesture — the letters of “СИТИ ДЖАЗ” breaking the line and drifting apart the way improvisation breaks a melody. Around them came a set of graphic elements: a saxophone, a double bass, a megaphone, a drum, a record, a microphone and stars — the kit from which every carrier is then assembled. The typeface is Random Grotesque; the palette is deep blue, pink and yellow in six combinations. From there the style spread across the festival: teaser and information banners, headliner posters, flyers, badges for the organising committee, security, press and artists, merch and social media templates — and all of it went up in the park on arches, screens, photo zones and fences.
